Western Slope

A guide to the good side of the mountains. Western Colorado.
About

About this site

A plain, independent guide to western Colorado. No agenda past getting it right.

Western Slope is an independent site about Colorado's Western Slope, the country west of the Continental Divide. We write plain guides to the region: what it is, its towns, and the outdoor country that draws people here in the first place. We are not a visitors bureau, not a real-estate outfit, and we are not selling you anything. We just think this corner of Colorado is worth explaining honestly.

The Western Slope has a long habit of being described by people who don't live here, usually in the language of a brochure. We would rather describe it the way you would to a friend who asked what it's actually like: the good and the plain, the peaches and the long drives, the scenery that genuinely earns the hype and the small towns that don't try to.

What you'll find here

A note on the name. This site lives at a domain with a history in western Colorado's good-news and community coverage. We run it independently, in that same friendly spirit, and keep it clean and about the place.

If we get something wrong about the region, tell us. People who live here always know better than a website, and we would rather be corrected than confident.
